Progress, as it is called, is bringing troubles to the indigenous and landless farmers of Cambodia. STORY: Land concessions granted by government officials for economic development are problematic in post Civil War Cambodia because many of the land deeds were destroyed during the Khmer Rouge regime. Yet the concessions continue to be granted, threatening not only the economic survival of the nation's subsistence farmers who make up over 80% of the population, but also an end to the way of life for many of the indigenous tribes, including the Jarai tribe who live and farm in the country's remote northeastern region.
