SFBAPPA Calendar of Photo Journalism Events

 

February 12 through May 16 - You are invited to a special preview reception of a gallery display of photographs by photojournalists Karna Kurata and David Paul Morris for the 40th Anniversary of the San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery on Friday, February 12. Both SFBAPPA members will be showing their work with other artists at the SFAC Gallery at San Francisco City Hall ground floor from Friday, February 12 through May 16.

Artists will be also be exhibited at other three locations: the Main Gallery in the Veterans Building, window installations site at 155 Grove Street and exhibition space at San Francisco’s City Hall.

You are invited to gallery opening, reception and lecture by Marc Riboud Photographs at the U.C. Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism Center for Photography on Friday, March 12.

In 1953, Marc Riboud moved to Paris where he joined the Magnum Photo agency and traveled extensively, working with Magnum founders Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Capa. His ability to capture fleeting moments in life through powerful
compositions was already apparent, and this skill was to serve him well for decades to come.

You are invited to an "Off The Wall" closing party for an exhibit by photographer Jerome Brunet at the Parisoma Gallery in San Francisco on Thursday, March 4. This is the last weekend of the show.

"Back in Black" is a collection of photographs spanning the last ten years of music photography by award winning photographer Jérôme Brunet, featuring musicians B.B. King, James Brown, Eric Clapton, Santana and U2, as well as contemporary stars like Ben Harper and John Mayer. The exhibition will also include photographs from the 2009 S.F. Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival.
